Owen's a friend and I think he means well, but with that one caveat, this is all spot-on. And while Brand should not be a pastor any time soon, there's absolutely no reason he shouldn't use his immense platform to tell what the Lord has done for him.
Indeed, it's required.
Some of our "public theologians" should do more of it.
Man, maybe I read it the wrong way. But these guys are all in the same combox, getting directions. O’Fallon is running it. They all attacked him at the same time. Or, maybe it was just the hive mind.
Pomposity is the word that fits the Public Theologians. I haven't kept up with Russel Brand's message. I tried watching him before his conversion but realized he was talking about "conspiracies". All I saw was headlines that he was flirting with Catholicism. I do hope he continues to evangelize but to endeavor to get a deeper learning along with his evangelism.

I appreciate that Rod. Your encouragement means the world to me.
I didn’t see Owen’s message as out of line - I saw a teacher providing encouragement
I think you do that quite often yourself lol
But I can see your perspective and how it could come off so thanks for sharing
I agree we should rejoice in cases like Brand or the OF girl. Some continue in the faith and unfortunately some don’t - parable of the soils
Appreciate your thoughts brother

Are you still close to O’Fallon? I could be wrong but thought you guys held similar views - my apologies if I have that wrong
Hive mind is definitely a good descriptor of much these days
Thanks J.D. Great insight. It's a lesson in humility.
